GAFC - A Sustainable Business Model for Agriculture
GAFC, founded in 1996 and headquartered in the United Kingdom, is a program focused on prototyping and driving sustainable business models for scale in the agriculture sector. With over 600 companies as members, GAFC aims to create new sustainable production and trade models in emerging economies. The program has a reach of over 4 million farmers in 30 countries and operates in 20 landscapes and 12 commodities and sourcing regions.
GAFC's main objective is to catalyze private sector investment and support for new business models that not only generate better incomes for farmers but also promote a better environment for all. The program co-finances and analyzes new sustainable business models in various sectors and landscapes. A key requirement for companies to participate is that they cover at least 50% of the costs, ensuring their commitment to the project.
By encouraging client co-investment, GAFC aims to increase cultivation and research and development of agricultural products, improve productivity, reduce output loss, ensure market security and supply chain integrity, and create maximum value for agricultural products. Ultimately, GAFC aims to create better income opportunities for investors and promote sustainable practices in the agriculture industry.
